Free Crochet Strawberry Frog Pattern


This is my first free pattern and the perfect crochet pattern for a beginner! I've been wanting to make my own strawberry frog for a while now, so I decided to share my pattern with you all! Down below, I have listed all of the materials and instructions on how to create your very own strawberry frog. Thank you for visiting!

 

Materials:

  • Premier Parfait Chunky Yarn: key lime, hibiscus, and sunshine
  • Black embroidery yarn
  • 6 mm crochet hook
  • 12 mm safety eyes
  • Polyfil fiberfill stuffing

Terminology

  • st(s): stitch(es)
  • sc: single crochet
  • inc: single crochet increase (2 sc in 1 st)
  • dec: single crochet decrease (sc 2 its together)
  • MC: magic circle
  • ch: chain

Pattern

Frog Body

Using green yarn,

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a MC (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12)

Round 3: [sc 1, inc] x6 (18)

Round 4: [sc 2, inc] x6 (24) 

Round 5: [sc 3, inc] x6 (30)

Rounds 6-11: sc in each st around (30)

Round 12: [sc 3, dec] x6 (24)

Round 13: [sc 2, dec] x6 (18)

*Begin stuffing the body*

Round 14: [sc 1, dec] x6 (12)

Round 15: dec 6 times (6)

*Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing*

 

Eyes (2)

Using green yarn,

Round 1: sc 5 in a MC (5)

Round 2: inc in each stitch around (10)

Rounds 3-4: sc in each stitch around (10)

*Stuff lightly. Insert the eyes in between rounds 3 and 4. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing*

 

Belly Patch

Using green yarn,

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a MC (6)

Rnd 2: inc in each st around (12)

Round 3: [sc 1, inc] x6 (18)

Round 4: [sc 2, inc] x6 (24) 

 

Strawberry 

Using pink yarn,

Round 1:  sc 5 in a MC (5)

Round 2: inc in each st around (10)

Rounds 3-4: sc in each st around (10)

*Begin stuffing*

Round 5: dec 5 times (5)

*Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. With yellow yarn, embroider little seeds*

 

Leaf

Using green yarn,

Round 1: sc 5 in a MC, sl st (5)

Round 2: [ch 2, sc 1 in the 2nd ch from the hook, sl st] x5, sl st (you should have 5 little leave)

*Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing*

 

Assembly 

  • Sew the eyes in the middle of the head between rounds 2 and 5
  • Sew the belly patch right below round 5 in the middle of the body
  • Sew the strawberry in between the eyes
  • Embroider the mouth with black yarn in between rounds 3 and 4
  • Ta-da! Your strawberry frog is completed!
